Jan Capper
Jan Capper will be taking up the position of Chief Executive of CUBO, the association of College and University Business Officers, after more than 20 years as Executive Director of International Association of Language Centres (IALC). She will be standing down from the helm of IALC on May 19, 2017. "IALC is a unique organisation and I shall miss it very much," Jan said. "It has been a pleasure and an honour to represent such outstanding language centres. I also feel privileged to have met so many extraordinary people across the study travel industry."

Scott Balaam
Scott Balaam has also joined Apollo Language Centre in Ireland as Young Learner Manager, with overall responsibility for the Apollo Young Learner Programmes for nine-to-17 year olds in Dublin and Cork. Scott is a language school specialist, having spent over 10 years working in the industry, both inside and outside the classroom, most recently as Operations Manager at Lewis School of English, UK, and Summer Centres Operations Manager at ATC Language Schools, Ireland. Scott said, "I am delighted to be part of Apollo Language Centre and keen to use my skill-set of experience and knowledge to ensure that our students have the best possible learner experience."

Liosa Casserly
Liosa Casserly has joined Apollo Language Centre in Ireland as Young Learner Co-Ordinator, with overall responsibility for the academic programme and progress of Apollo young learners in Dublin and Cork, as well as recruitment and continuing professional development (CPD) of young learner teachers. Prior to returning to Ireland in 2016, Liosa was the Academic Manager at Lewis School of English in the UK, where she oversaw the running of four young learner summer centres, as well as spending many years living and teaching English in Italy. Seán O'Donnell, Academic Director at Apollo, commented, "It's absolutely fantastic to have someone with so much insight and experience in young learner programmes come aboard with us at Apollo. Liosa's passion and drive for excellence in this area help make our YL courses the best they can be!"

Rachel Vallins
Rachel Vallins joins City College Brighton and Hove, UK, as International English and Academic Manager. Rachel has been teaching since 1999 and comes to City College with extensive experience in academic management. Her most recent position was Academic Director at LSI in Hove, where she oversaw all aspects of academic support for students and teachers. Her favourite thing about working in this environment is seeing the students' confidence grow as their English improves. She is also interested teacher development.

Bruna Borges
Bruna Borges has joined Apollo Language Centre in Ireland as Office Manager, with responsibility for bookings, administration and student support. With a BA degree in History and a master's in Latin American Studies, Bruna has held a number of roles in the education industry, including overseeing the delivery of a distance learning programme in the lead up to the Olympic games in Brazil. Having been an international student in Ireland herself, Bruna has a unique perspective and understanding of the industry from both sides. Aoife Govern, Director at Apollo, commented, "As a new school, we didn't expect the need for the Office & Bookings Manager position so soon, but I am delighted to have Bruna on board. Bruna will work very closely with me to ensure our agents receive their booking documents very promptly, and will be an experienced and friendly point of contact for students at the school."

Chris McMahon
Chris McMahon has joined the Administration Team at ACET in Cork, Ireland. He brings with him a wealth of international experience, most recently holding an English Teaching position in Seoul. In his new role at ACET, Chris will be responsible for clients' bookings, general administration, and the social programme. Chris is a valuable asset and the ACET team are delighted to have him on board.

Sarah Byrne
Sarah Byrne has recently re-joined Liverpool School of English as Marketing Director. Sarah has worked in language travel for almost 20 years and in management/marketing for 10. As Marketing Director, she is responsible for global student recruitment and account management of partners worldwide. This year she will also oversee the school's rebrand. "It is great to be back," she said. "We are an excellent team and all looking forward to the launch of our new brand. We have updated our look to better reflect our professional, dynamic approach to language learning and the student experience."

Lyndsey Byrne
Lyndsey Byrne has joined Apollo Language Centre in Ireland as Student Experience Manager with overall responsibility for the Apollo student experience, including social activities, accommodation and pastoral care. Lyndsey spent four years at IH Dublin as Activities Manager, as well as many years as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, and brings a lot of personality and motivational skills with her. Aoife Govern, Director at Apollo, welcomed Lyndsey, and said, "For me, this is one of the most important roles at the school which requires a unique combination of people skills and experience.  Lyndsey's positive attitude and work ethic, as well as her contagious sense of fun, will ensure an amazing experience for our students, both inside and outside of the classroom."

David Hancock
David Hancock has been appointed Business Development Manager at Kingswood Learning and Leisure Ltd. In his new role, he will be responsible for recruitment of residential junior groups all year round from Asia, the Middle East and Africa. David has worked in the language travel industry since 2004 and previously spent seven years as the Sales & Marketing Manager for International House Bristol.

Chris Broadhurst
Chris Broadhurst has joined Oxford International Education Group as Director of Student Recruitment for Schools and Colleges.
