Matthew Spragg
Matthew Spragg has joined The Essential English Centre (EEC) in Manchester as Director of Studies/School Manager. Bringing with him extensive industry experience, he is a highly regarded academic and school management professional. Having worked for reputable organisations nationally and internationally, Matthew has most recently worked in Manchester as a Senior Teacher and Blended Learning Specialist for Kaplan International English, and as Academic Manager and then Principal of Excel College. Directors Jo and Bairbre are delighted to welcome Matthew to the team, with his appointment forming a key aspect of their strategy to solidify The EEC's growth, while firmly underscoring the school's reputation as a quality independent provider in Manchester and the North West.

Marcela Osorio
Marcela Osorio has joined the Colombian agency association, ANEX, as Executive Director, with 10 years of experience as an education consultant. She has a BA degree in International Business and specialisation in Logistic Management. She feels the association needs to transcend and create good brand recognition among students, other possible members and third parties. She notes that this will be a challenge, but also a great opportunity to strategically move into a bright future for ANEX.

Slavas Palkevicius

Slavas Palkevicius has joined SUL Language Schools in Cornwall, UK, as a Director and Co-Shareholder of the company. Slavas has 17 years' experience in international education and will help to create new products and develop the company. "I am more than sure that the mixture of knowledge and experience of two generations, almost 40 years of excellence in education of SUL, and innovative management will help to change the understanding about our great industry and put SUL on the map as a great example of 'doing business'," said Slavas. SUL, a family-run language school, was founded by Christopher and Nicole Retallack in 1980. "I've become one of three shareholders of the company and will be running it with great honours," added Slavas. "It's a new challenge and great responsibility."

Roza Melikyan
Roza Melikyan has started at Atlantic Language as International Student Recruitment Officer. Roza brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role having worked in the language sector for 13 years. She is excited to promote the school's range of English language and academic courses. Roza, who speaks several languages, will now work towards recruiting students globally, giving support to key partners and exploring new business opportunities. "I am really fortunate to join a team of dedicated and hard-working people. My job is to support them in the great work they are doing and build great relationships with students and agents from all over the world."

Anke Menkhorst
Anke Menkhorst has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of ESL Education, a promotion from her role as COO when she joined the company in 2015. With over 20 years of experience, Anke has led many international businesses combining strong business acumen and team building skills. Patrick Siegenthaler, Co-Founder of ESL, who will assume the role of Chairman of the Board for ESL, said, "After joining ESL in 2015 in the role of COO, Anke has proven to be an ambitious leader that can inspire the ESL team and lead the organisation towards its ambitious growth objectives. Padraig Hourigan
Padraig Hourigan has been elected as the new Chairperson of Marketing English in Ireland (MEI), the language school association in Ireland. Padraig, who is also Chief Executive Officer of International House Dublin, takes over from Therese Dillon from MLI Group who has served a successful three-year term. David O'Grady, CEO of MEI, said, "We are thrilled to have Padraig Hourigan elected as Chairperson of MEI as he brings a huge level of experience and energy to the role. He takes over as Chairperson at a time when ELT is performing very well in Ireland and we have seen significant growth in the last number of years, spread right throughout the country."

James Martin
James Martin has been appointed Director of Strategic Global Development for Jackfruit Marketing and FruitFame.com. Based in Canada, James will be responsible for new and existing business development opportunities and partnerships for both companies globally. With more than 15 years of progressive international management and leadership experience, James was previously Executive Director of Halifax Language Institute of Canada. James has also held roles as business instructor and academic/international director. His extensive work includes higher education pathway partnerships, achieving student enrolment targets, and successfully leading teams of teachers and staff members within the private education sector.

Naz Nolan
Naz Nolan has joined Apollo Language Centre in Ireland as Assistant Academic Manager. She will be working to ensure the individual goals of Apollo's students are achieved. Having taught English in Dublin since 2010, Naz brings a lot of valuable experience to the role and is a specialist in exam preparation for FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS exams, as well as teacher training. Naz graduated with a BA in Classics and Philosophy from Trinity College Dublin and is also University of Cambridge CELTA and DELTA qualified. Academic Director, Seán O'Donnell, said, "The progress of our students is one of Apollo's top priorities and the experience and knowledge that Naz brings directly enables our students to do the best they can."

Juan Garoz
Juan Garoz has joined Book&Learn as Marketing Manager. With six years of experience in international education behind him, Juan has worked at Eurolingua Study as a Partner and Marketing Manager, where he was the lead on opening new branches in Spain and Mexico, developed an internal CRM Platform, managed sales and marketing departments, and also projects with key partners. He holds an advertising, marketing and public relations degree from Kings Juan Carlos University in Madrid, Spain, and studied English at EC Cape Town, South Africa. Juan looks forward to working with agents and schools more closely, creating a large education community, and improving the way the industry make business.

Michelle has a wealth of management experience and a passion for communication enhancement and has been spoken at international conferences in the areas of CLIL, Corpus Linguistics and Critical Discourse Analysis.
